museumaker: a collaboration between the heritage and contemporary visual arts sector
The museumaker programme is a collaboration between MLA Renaissance and Arts Council England who are stakeholders and joint funders. The project owners are Renaissance in the East Midlands, London, North East and South East. The National Trust is a partner in the East Midlands.
The Implementation Phase for museumaker2 is divided into three periods:
- Set up: July– December 2009
- Delivery: January 2010 – March 2011
- Closure: April – June 2011
Leicester Arts and Museums Service (Leicester City Council) is providing umbrella project management and administration support for mm2 and acting as the accountable body. museumaker originated in the East Midlands.
A National Programme Board (NPB) and four Regional Steering Groups have been established. The National Programme Board comprises a balanced mix of representatives of the heritage and the contemporary visual arts sectors. The NPB is responsible for steering the overall shape and management of the museumaker programme as it goes forward, taking executive decisions and ensuring fit with government and agency policy developments including the commitment to promoting equality and celebrating diversity in all activities. The Regional Steering Groups steer the development of the programme in each region, and shape a distinctive regional profile.
